The Mauritanian government adopted on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in the Council of Ministers, a bill authorizing the ratification of a $30.5 million loan agreement concluded with the Islamic Development Bank (BID).

The IDB funding is intended to support the Project to Improve Vocational Training and Youth Employment, an initiative included in the National Vocational Training Strategy 2023—2030. The initiative aims to reduce the gap between the training offer and the needs of the labour market. By focusing on technical and practical skills, the project aims to strengthen the employability of young people, especially those from marginalized or vulnerable areas. Better access to quality training could facilitate rapid and sustainable professional integration, while reducing the pressure on the informal sector and social fragility
