The Congolese government has set itself a major challenge in the new year and will have to mobilize investors, especially around the fertilizer plant project in the Pointe-Noire Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Indeed, since September 13, 2018, a memorandum of understanding relating to the construction of the agricultural fertilizer plant has been signed between the government and the Danish company Haldor Topsoe. Thus, the future agro-industrial complex is planned in the Pointe-Noire SEZ, for a total estimated amount of 2.5 billion US dollars, or about 1410 billion FCFA.
According to the Head of State, “it is important to increase the availability of the inputs needed to accelerate, thanks to the numerous assets and potential of this sector, the expansion of agriculture in the broad sense, so that the development of this structuring pillar of our National Development Plan 2022 - 2026 is hardly reduced to empty slogans. In 2023, it will be necessary to meet, as best as possible, the challenge of optimization in order to consolidate the gains made, in this case the encouraging economic performances obtained and the social advances recorded.”
