Despite its withdrawal from the Equatorial Guinean market in early 2021, Cameroonian Afriland First Bank wants to establish itself on the Chadian market. The bank has not given up on its expansion plans in Central Africa.

According to the next step of Afriland First Bank's plan, Chad, will be recorded next July. On 11 May 2022, a delegation from Afriland First Bank was received in N'Djamena by the Chadian Minister of Finance and Budget, Tahir Hamid Nguilin. The aim was to discuss the financing of the economies of the CEMAC States after the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the establishment of the credit institution with mainly Cameroonian capital in Chad. The completion of Afriland First Bank's expansion project in Chad should enable it to strengthen its position in Central Africa, following the sale of its assets in Equatorial Guinea.
