The governor indicated in his speech that he delivered at the inauguration of the council in Lagos that the Lagos International Financial Centre Board was being propelled in partnership with EnterpriseGR, which is a member-led advocacy group that promotes the growth and development of Nigeria's financial and professional services sector as a catalyst for die ; economic development. The establishment of the Council is part of the government's objective to position Lagos as Africa's leading financial center. The Council would help align strategic partnerships that contribute to the economic prosperity of Lagos and Nigeria by establishing Africa's first international financial center in Lagos, in line with the federal government's economic recovery plans
