A workshop was organized on Thursday 26 January 2023 in Abidjan by the Cotton and Cashew Council, together with its technical and financial partners. The workshop aims to prepare the establishment of a consultation and collaboration framework to develop the necessary synergies between actors involved in the cashew sector in Côte d'Ivoire.

Adama Coulibaly, the managing director of the Cotton and Cashew Council, announced in an information note that “this sector is positioned as the second most valuable export crop, behind cocoa. The sector contributes 9% to Ivory Coast's GDP. Its economic and social impact on the populations of the country's savannah areas is indisputable.” The projects implemented by the partners are believed to be opportunities for Côte d'Ivoire in view of the ambitions expressed by the government, particularly in terms of agricultural productivity, optimization of the marketing circuit and the development of local processing.

The note informs that “the Cotton and Cashew Council, a public institution in charge of coordinating interventions in the cashew sector, intends to create synergy between all partners (projects, financial partners, NGOs, etc.) involved in the cashew sector in order to create the conditions for better organization of these interventions”.
