For allegedly evading tax on the electronic value added tax (VAT) system, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) working group arrested five mall managers on Spintex Road in Accra.

China Mall, Sneda Shopping Mall, and Fresh First Limited are the companies found not to issue electronic VAT. Palace Mall and Shoprite at the Junction Mall were also accused of issuing receipts with duplicate signatures from the Commissioner General of Ghana. The managers of his companies were sent to the customs office at headquarters for their declarations before being handed over to the police criminal investigation department.

Edward Appenteng Gyamerah, the commissioner in charge of the GRA's domestic tax revenue division, informed that the GRA found that some taxpayers were issuing invoices that were not certified by the commissioner-general, such as L&# 39; requires the law. Thus, for him, under article 41 of the 2013 VAT Act (Law 870) as amended by Law 1082 and Law 1087, every registered VAT taxpayer was required to issue an electronic VAT invoice with the details prescribed by the Commissioner General when providing services or goods supplied.
