The Finance Act, Financial Year 2023 was unanimously adopted by the deputies of the Transitional Legislative Assembly. The 2023 budget amounts to 2,631.3 billion FCFA in revenue and 3235.9 billion FCFA in expenses, representing a deficit of 604.7 billion.

71 deputies unanimously adopted the budget, which consists of estimated revenue of 2,631.3 billion FCFA (consisting of ordinary revenue, i.e. tax revenue: 2,347.8 billion FCFA and extraordinary revenues: 283.5 billion FCFA). Indeed, expenditure forecasts are estimated at 3,235.9 billion FCFA (with 2,074.6 billion FCFA in ordinary expenditure and 1,161.3 billion FCFA in capital expenditure).

The budget deficit is 604.7 billion FCFA compared to 570.0 billion FCFA in 2022 (a deterioration of 34.6 billion FCFA) and savings are at 273.2 billion FCFA. These budget forecasts imply the government's ambition to finance development on a sustainable basis, given the difficult context that Burkina Faso is going through, according to the Minister of Economy, Finance and Foresight, Aboubakar Nacanabo.
