The Anti-Corruption Prevention Agency in Tanganyika Province, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is organizing an awareness-raising campaign and the development of an anti-corruption plan from 26 to 30 December. The objective is to eradicate these evils that hinder national development.

The Agency for Preventing and Combating Corruption is working on the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, the subsequent priority action plan. It considers the axis of repression by conducting the necessary investigations and prosecuting any person, group of persons, organization, bodies or other services involved in acts of corruption, money laundering and similar acts under the conditions established by the regulations in force.

“Corruption is a cancer that plagues the world and causes profound inequalities between citizens. It undermines the social fabric and causes disparities that weaken democracy every day that passes,” said Ms. Benie-Laure Kamwiziku, who is in charge of detection, prevention and administration. For his part, the head of the office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Dr. Ephraim Abwe Diabe, affirmed that this campaign is an opportunity that primarily aims to raise awareness about corruption, and what everyone can do to fight it, even better, to prevent it.
