This is in order to support the Disarmament, Demobilization, Community Recovery and Stabilization Program (P-DDRCS) in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The DRC is a country facing the violence of a hundred armed groups on its eastern facade. A statement from the bank announced that “3 million Congolese residing in the eastern provinces of Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) should benefit from improved access to community infrastructures and the community-based reintegration programs that will be financé through a new $250 million grant from International Development Association (IDA)”.
This grant will contribute, according to the Bretton Woods institution, to strengthening “the capacity of administrations in selected provinces, indirectly benefiting the 17 million people who live there.” Albert Zeufack, World Bank Country Director style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, “serif” > for the DRC, added for its part, that “this project aims to support peace and development in line with the government's renewed commitment to resolving persistent conflicts in the region.”
