In Côte d'Ivoire, trade is one of the pillars of the economy (9.6% of GDP) with a number of traders estimated at over 3 million and around 85% who carry out their professional activities informally. According to the Directorate-General for Internal Trade, it was therefore necessary to officially set up the MUCCI, since very few have health risk insurance (less than 8%).
