The International Monetary Fund (IMF) informed on Monday, January 30, through its website that Guinea-Bissau has obtained an IMF agreement for 38 euros in financing, $4 million. This was in order to support economic reforms in the country.

Over the past few months, the implementation of economic reforms in Guinea-Bissau has improved the country's prospects. But while the economy is expected to rebound, the outlook is subject to significant downside risks, linked to several endogenous and exogenous factors. Indeed, the agreement between the institution and the country is part of the economic program overseen by the Fund, which will last 36 months. The objective of this program is to ensure debt sustainability while supporting economic recovery, improving governance, and helping to reduce the risk of corruption. It will also create fiscal space to support inclusive growth.
