In order to be able to carry out a vast program of disengagement of the State from the productive sector, the Angolan government planned to privatize 195 companies between 2019 and 2022. The operation covered 96 companies and raised 567 billion kwanzas ($1.13 billion).

According to the announcement of the Angolan Secretary of State for Finance and Treasury, Ottoniel dos Santos, thanks to the privatization of 96 public companies, the country has earned 567 billion kwanzas ($1.13 billion). These companies were sold to private investors as part of a vast privatization program called “Propriv” launched in 2019.

In an order by President João Lourenço, the Angolan authorities announced the sale in the coming months of 51% of the capital of the public airport operator Sociedade Gestora de Aeroportos to private investors, while the Institute for the Management of State Assets and Participations (IGAPE) announced in Last September that the State intends to sell its stakes in two real jewels of the Angolan economy, in this case the pétrolière national company Sonangol and the diamond company Endiama, by 2027.
