During a meeting on January 26, 2023 in Senegal, the CEO of the Sonatel group announced that the company has an average profitability of 40%.

During this meeting, Sékou Dramé clarified certain points that were not often mentioned in institutional communications. According to him, in terms of benchmarks, the Maroc Telecom Group with which the Sonatel Group can be compared is at 50% profitability. According to him, a telecom operator can only succeed if it is sustained through massive investments. The CEO notified that it is “imperative for Sonatel to have a balanced site and the only thing that allows us to achieve this is to grow that generates economies of scale.” He also estimated that of the 252 billion FCFA in profits made at the end of the 2021 financial year, Sonatel paid 166 billion FCFA in dividends and invested 214 billion FCFA.
