One of the main concerns of the Government of Guinea is the revival of Guinee Telecom. Indeed, the country confirmed the relaunch of the Société des Télécommunications de Guinee (SOTELGUI) in the first half of 2023.

On the occasion of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, January 12, 2023, the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Economy digital, Ousmane Gaoual Diallo announced that before the end of January 2023, Guinea will benefit from the services of SOTELGUI, now Guinea Telecom. The operationalization of Guinee Telecom is the culmination of actions undertaken since 2013 by the Guinean government. The African Development Bank supported the country in March 2021 as part of this project.

Guiné Télécom will make every effort to reestablish its place in the telecommunications market, which is under discussion between Orange, MTN and Cellcom. According to the latest statistics from the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (ARPT), these three operators have 65.9%, 24.8% and 9.4% respectively of a market share of 13.5 million subscribers.
