Since Monday, December 5, 2022, a workshop initiated by the Public Finance Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Regional Technical Assistance Center for West Africa (AFRITAC) has been underway at the Tiama Hotel in Abidjan-Plateau and will take place next Friday, December 9. This meeting was organized in collaboration with the services of the West African Economic Monetary Union (UEMOA) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Reflecting on improving the management of ECOWAS and UEMOA tax administrations in order to maximize revenue collection to meet the expenses of different states, this is the objective of the high-level regional workshop. According to Anthony Ramarozatovo, senior economist in the Revenue Administration Division of the IMF, French-speaking countries, the workshop will discuss the strategy for developing a practical guide on management and good governance, in order to arrive at a regional tool, which will make it possible to draw up a transparency code at the level of UEMOA.

He regrets that despite the reforms initiated at the technical level by the member countries of AFRITAC, and in particular the member countries of UEMOA, are struggling to reach the convergence objectives in terms of revenue mobilization, which is 20% of GDP.
