The Ghanaian Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, in presenting the 2023 budget to the Ghanaian Parliament on November 24 in Accra, announced that “shareholder and partnership agreements have been signed with the strategic partner selected for the national airline, which will be called Ghana Airlines. The airline should be operational in 2023.”
Ashanti Airlines, a local airline owned by Ghanaian businessmen, will be the partner of the new airline in the making. Ghana has not had a national airline since Ghana Airways disappeared in 2004 and shortly after Ghana International Airlines in 2010.
