The WAEMU Central Depository/Settlement Bank (DC/BR) and the Central Securities Depository (GH) LTD announced the signing of a partnership agreement to strengthen cooperation on the financial markets of Ghana and the countries of the European Union West African Economic and Monetary Affairs. It was Friday, December 9, 2022.

The announcement of the agreement was made during a signing ceremony between the Director General of DC/BR, Birahim DIOUF, and his counterpart of the CSD of Ghana, Michael MENSAH. The document established common bases for launching joint initiatives in their respective markets. The DC/BR and the CSD of Ghana are committed to organizing regular meetings between senior staff with the aim of improving understanding between the two organizations.

Moreover, the MoU is a platform for sharing best practices of central depositaries in terms of development, operational models, and service improvement opportunities. It also covers areas that aim to promote and strengthen cooperation and integration. These include post-market capital markets activities and services in West Africa, staff training to deepen understanding of the respective securities markets, joint research papers and knowledge products on topics related to central depository operations, and joint meetings on topics of common interest.
