Copper is a major industrial metal with high ductility, electrical and thermal conductivity, and corrosion resistance. Indeed, global copper demand will increase at a CAGR of around 3 to 5% between 2021 and 2024.

Reports suggest that metal demand has led to the collaboration of several companies for the copper and copper semi-finished products value chain. They are all involved in multiple activities, namely mining, smelting, fire refining, electrolytic refining, smelting, alloying, scraping, casting and the supply of semi-products.

Indeed, the electronics, transportation, and construction sectors will be the main growth drivers for fusion, mining, and copper supply. Copper demand and supply have seen multiple opportunities and risks over the years. For their part, Europe and North America will see a strong increase in demand for copper with the rise of industrial and electronic markets. Asia will also see an increase in demand for metals due to the rise of construction segments in developing countries.

The copper market remained in deficit in 2021, with demand increasing at a faster pace than production and supply. While geopolitical tensions in the EU portray rising prices, the volatile situation in the Asian region, followed by a fall in demand, is encouraging prices to fall.
