Since 2015, the security crisis has affected Burkina Faso's socio-economic development without sparing the statistical data production sector. Indeed, it requires actors in the national statistical system to imagine new strategies to continue responding to the urgent need to ensure the continued production of high-quality national statistical data.
To this end, the National Statistics Council (CNS) held its second session of the year under the theme: “Adapting statistical methodologies to the security context”. Thus, according to the Secretary General of the Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Foresight, Nicolas Kobiané, “this current theme, due to the national context marked by insecurity due to terrorist attacks, reflects both the need to transform our data collection processes to take this context into account, but also to take into account the needs of combating insecurity in our priorities in statistical production.”
According to Boureima Ouédraogo, the Director General of the National Institute of Statistics and Demography (INSD), faced with these imperatives, it is important for actors in the national statistical system to be able to discuss this theme in order to imagine new approaches and new tools to continue to ensure the production of statistics in with the least exposure of the agents responsible for collecting this data.
