Ivory Coast has experienced an economic boom in recent decades. This allowed the State to launch a vast modernization program from which Ivorian Customs benefits.

Several tons of contraband were destroyed by Ivorian Customs. Indeed, the east of the country, the cocoa loop, is subject to trafficking of all types. With the intention of containing this scourge, the Abengourou Regional Customs Directorate is taking consistent actions. Thus, between April 1 and November 25, 2022, 31.347 tonnes of contraband were seized.

These products that were incinerated on Thursday, December 15, 2022, in the presence of administrative, judicial and customary authorities, consist of Substandard and Falsified Medicines (MQIF), liquor in bags, cigarettes, tobacco, broths and cannabis.

In addition, Lt-Colonel Ousmane Sanogo, Regional Director of Abengourou Customs, reaffirmed during the ceremony, Customs' commitment to ensuring the protection of populations and welcomes the frank collaboration that prevails between all the Abengourou security forces, namely, the Prefecture of Police, the Gendarmerie, the FANCI detachment, the Civil Protection Office, Water and Forests and Customs.
