The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank approved the granting of a loan envelope, consisting of 27 million dollars and 10 million euros. This was in order to co-finance the construction of a 100 megawatt solar power plant in Kairouan, Tunisia.

The project includes the design, construction, and operation of a 100 megawatt solar photovoltaic power plant, as part of a “BOO” (build, own, operate) program. Indeed, the bank has approved a 10 millions de dollars et 10 millions d' euros et 17 millions de dollars de financements concessionnels via le Fonds pour l' énergie durable en Afrique, special multi-donor fund that is managed by the Bank.

Additional funding is also planned by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a subsidiary of the World Bank Group, and the Clean Technology Fund (FTC). The project is one of the five green projects awarded in 2019 by the government.
