Ahead of the publication of an economic survey that should highlight business conditions in Africa's most industrialized economy, the South African rand rose slightly on Wednesday.

The rand traded 17.8925 against the dollar, 0.14% stronger than its previous close, at 0628 GMT. For its part, S&P Global South Africa's March Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) is expected to be released at 0715 GMT. The government's 2030 benchmark bond was up slightly in the first few trades, with the return falling by 1 basis point to 9.870%.
