The expectations of the Mali Treasury have been disappointed. Following its simultaneous auction of equivalent Treasury bills (BAT) with a duration of 12 months and 3 years and 5 years of equivalent treasury bonds (OAT), organized on Wednesday 5 April 2023 at the level of the UEMOA financial market, Mali recorded a low coverage rate of 29.92% of the amount put up for auction.

The issuer auctioned 35 billion FCFA according to UMOA-Securities and received global submissions from investors of 10.473 billion FCFA. The Malian authorities accepted all the submissions, i.e. an absorption rate of 100%. For their part, investors whose bids have been successful will end up with a weighted average return of 7.25% for bonds, 7.83% for 3-year bonds, and 7.53% for 5-year bonds.
