On Friday, May 19, the Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved the sum of Rs 87,416 crore as a dividend to the Center for 227-23.

Nearly twice the sum of Rs 48,000 crore budgeted by the central government in the form of dividends from the central bank, PSU lenders, and other financial institutions, the dividend is lower than some economists' estimates. Indeed, Standard Chartered analysts predicted that the transfer could be between Rs 1 lakh crore and Rs 2 lakh crore. In a statement from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), it should be noted that “the board approved the transfer of 87,416 crore rupees as a surplus to the central government for the financial year 2022 - 23.”
