Mohamed Bazoum of Niger, current president of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), received the Chairman of the Commission Abdoulaye Diop on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. On the occasion, they took stock of the economic situation and the activities of the Union.

“The economic and financial situation of UEMOA, despite the difficulties we face like all countries in the world, highlights fairly firm economic activity with forecasts of nearly 7% in 2023,” he asserted. “The meeting was also an opportunity to report to the President-in-Office of the Union on the measures we had to take in connection with the functioning of the Council of Ministers and on some of the guidelines he had given us concerning the functioning of the financial market”, added Abdoulaye Diop, who continued: “We salute the leadership of President Mohamed Bazoum because his guidelines were taken over by the Council of Ministers. Ministers, which has now made it possible to ensure the overall satisfactory functioning of our subregional financial market, particularly in the context of financing national budgets.”
