The Central Bank of Mauritania (BCM) has put into circulation the new 50 MRU note. Its issuance as a commemorative note was announced on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the creation of the national currency (the ouguiya)

The Central Bank of Mauritania (BCM) launched, on Monday morning, the release of the new 50 ouguiya banknote. The exchange of the new banknote issued at 50 MRU against the old one of the same value has begun at the BCM counters

This banknote is presented on three different supports: a polymer at the center covered with paper on both sides, a side made of cotton paper mixed with sisal, and a paper at the center covered with a thin layer of polymer on both sides. The 50 MRU note is the one that circulates the most, in daily currency exchanges trustee, and, like other notes issued by BCM, has all the security features.
