Key players from the eight countries of the West African Monetary Economic Union (UEMOA) attended a workshop in Lomé on Monday, July 3, to launch “Regional Readiness”, a program to prepare for access to the Green Climate Fund (FVC), brought together.

The objective of the workshop is to enable delegates to have a common understanding of the issues and challenges and to organize themselves to meet them over the next 24 months. There is also a question of making these actors capable of setting up portfolios of climate-energy-biodiversity projects eligible for climate finance institutions

The Readiness programme is designed in favour of local authorities in the Union. It will help local authorities take ownership of the handling of the form, strengthen their institutional and technical capacities for the implementation of programs and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in the field of climate change. This program will also show them how they are affected in their different communities and how they can turn difficulties into needs, requests, or projects to seek funding from the FVC and other financial mechanisms. The aim of Readiness is to help solve problems related to poor coordination.
