The World Bank Board of Directors has approved the Central African Regional Waterways Project, intended for the CAR and the Republic of Congo. This grant of an amount equivalent to 240 million dollars, or 144,571,278,000 CFA francs, will contribute to strengthening the efficiency of transport and trade, as well as to the resilience of infrastructure along the road corridors between the two countries

This financing complements the corridor 13 project already supported by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Development Bank of Central African States (BDEAC). It will allow the CAR to develop its road infrastructure, thus promoting trade with the outside world and creating new economic opportunities for the population

The financing of this new project, in addition to Corridor 13, a multimodal route connecting several countries in the region, will open up new business opportunities for the CAR. By connecting to international trade, the country will be able to increase its economic competitiveness and benefit from the advantages of an open economy.
