Ghana has a disparity in water supplies between urban and rural populations. The new project is financed by a preferential credit facility from Raiffeisen Bank International AG in Austria. It revolves around three key elements, namely the construction of three concrete reservoirs, the completion of a booster station and the laying of 175 kilometers of water pipes. It will involve nearly 95 communities in Central Tongu, Adaklu and Agotime-Ziope and nearly
90,000 people will benefit.Ghana faces a disparity in water supplies between urban and rural populations. According to the international organization Sanitation and Water for All, in 2021, approximately 96.4% of the urban population had access to basic water supply services, compared to 74.4% of the
rural population.In order to overcome this, the Ghanaian State has put in place initiatives, including the Rural Communities and Small Towns Water Supply Project (RCSTWSP), which is currently being implemented. Funded at nearly $35 million, it will impact more than 280,000 people in the Volta, Oti, Greater Accra, Ashanti and Eastern regions
