In order to facilitate the mobilization of sustainable borrowing, the Board of Directors of the African Development Bank gave the green light, on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, in Abidjan, to grant a partial credit guarantee of 400 million euros to Côte d'Ivoire Bad grants a partial guarantee of 400 million euros in credit.

This funding aims to help it mobilize resources on the international financial market that will be allocated to strategic environmental, social and governance (Esg) projects. The partial credit guarantee will allow Côte d'Ivoire to raise long-term financing from commercial banks, in line with its Esg Framework Document, published in 2021 and following international best practices.

The use of Esg borrowings is also part of Côte d'Ivoire's Medium-Term Debt Management Strategy, which seeks to innovate and diversify its sources of financing for strategic projects with high social and environmental impact.
