Members of the financial and banking institutions that are members of the Federation of Professional Associations of Banks and Financial Institutions of UEMOA (FAPBEF-UEMOA) met this Wednesday in Lomé as part of a forum on the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism, noted a journalist from Agence Savoir News.

This forum is included in the /2023 action plan of this federation. In particular, it aims to strengthen the skills and capacities of these actors in banks and financial institutions in the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism, in order to reduce the risks of exposure and the sanctions of regulators due to the breaches observed

The aim is also to encourage exchanges on the latest regulatory trends in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing within the sub-regional banking sector, through those responsible for compliance and the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.

During the forum, discussions revolved around several topics such as anti-money laundering and terrorist financing regulations, anti-money laundering and terrorist financing compliance practices, the etymology of anti-money laundering and the financing of terrorism. The debates also allowed for the sharing of experiences between the different countries.
