The Director General of Customs of Niger, Molimi Barkay, announced on August 1, 2023 that the payment of customs duties and taxes will now be made at the level of customs revenue in Niger.

The Director General of Customs of Niger indicated in a statement that duties and taxes payment transactions with partner banking institutions are suspended. According to him, the payment will be made for units that do not have customs revenue at the level of these units. This decision came in the context of economic sanctions by ECOWAS which target Niger following the coup d'état last week
