During an operation against organized crime in West Africa, Interpol seized nearly $2.2 million.

ACID reported that eleven African countries, including six in West Africa, account for 60% of the world's cybercriminals. In an investigative operation in the region, Interpol blocked more than 200 bank accounts linked to criminal activities. In a statement released on Tuesday, August 8, the intergovernmental organization reported that more than 100 people had been arrested, as well as the blocking of 208 bank accounts linked to criminal activities. Operation “Jackal” also identified more than 1,100 suspects and triggered financial investigations around the world

One of the groups targeted by the operation is Black Axe, a violent gang, born in Nigeria and known for its cybernetic financial fraud, as well as other criminal syndicates in the region.
