Nigeria is focusing on solid minerals in its drive for economic diversification. To do this, the country has launched a six-pronged strategy, including the creation of a dedicated national company.

The launch of the six-axis strategy aims to attract as many foreign investors as possible in a sector that would “in reality” have the potential to contribute to 50% of GDP according to officials. In fact, the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development has unveiled its “agenda for the transformation of solid minerals for international competitiveness and national prosperity”, a six-axis strategy that will start with the creation of a national solid minerals company

According to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, “the proposed company will seek and enter into investment partnership agreements with major multinational companies around the world to take advantage of the attractive and investment-friendly regime in place in the country to ensure massive foreign direct investment in the mining sector”.
