The Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Quarries, Jean-Baptiste Kaboré announced on Tuesday, September 6, that Burkina Faso produced 57.645 tons of gold in 2022.

Jean-Baptiste Kaboré indicated that for a total production of 57.645 tons of gold and 46.789 tons of zinc, the country had thirteen gold mines and one zinc mine, four of which were stopped as of December 31, 2022. According to the latter, direct revenue to the State budget increased from 430.916 billion CFA francs (707 million dollars) in 2021 to 540.984 billion CFA francs (888 million dollars) in 2022, an increase of 25.54% in absolute terms

Export revenues related to the mining sector increased from 2,806.1 billion CFA francs (4 billion dollars) in 2021 to 2,841.9 billion CFA francs (4.6 billion dollars) in 2022, an increase of 35.8 billion CFA francs (57 million dollars).
