In the first half of 2023, 14 maritime incidents, including armed robberies and acts of piracy, were counted within the Gulf of Guinea by the International Maritime Bureau. For this reason, Operation Safe Domain II is launched to strengthen safety and security in the maritime domain of Zone E through research and information exchange, maritime and aerial surveillance as well as the intervention of operational units when necessary.
