The European Investment Bank (EIB) published its 2023 survey report on bank financing in Africa on Wednesday 27 September. This report mentions that the risk aversion observed in 2022 at the global level has greatly hindered the raising of funds on the unlisted market

South Africa recorded $1.3 billion in unlisted investments, (i.e. investments in the form of venture capital, private equity, private credit, infrastructure, and natural resources), ranking first in 2022. Nigeria, which was in first place in this market in 2021, has been downgraded to 4th place. According to the European financial institution, South Africa, the largest market for unlisted investments in Africa in 2022, was followed by Kenya, which came in second place with $1.1 billion in fundraising on the unlisted market. Egypt, 3rd in this ranking, recorded a volume of unlisted investments of $897 million, compared to $479 million
