With the aim of promoting the cashew nut industry so that it contributes to the country's economic development, the Government of Benin in collaboration with its technical and financial partners in the field of agriculture launched Cashew Week in Cotonou on Monday, October 2, 2023.

Sylvestre Fadohan, representative of the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries indicated that “this cashew week will be an opportunity for Benin to reveal itself again through its cashew industry. Internationally, cashew nuts from Benin are very popular and in high demand.” On the occasion of the launch of Cashew Week, a joint information note from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries and that of Industry and Commerce indicated that cashew value chains in Benin and abroad have been marked by an evolutionary dynamic in recent years, particularly in terms of organization, production, processing, marketing and governance.

According to this same note, this week will be furnished with exhibitions on the cashew trail represented by sites where all the links in the cashew value chain are deployed, discussion panels on research in the sector in Benin and “B2B” meetings between external, national and participating actors.
