At a session of the 8th World Investment Forum in Abu Dhabi on 19 October 2023, the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) Commission and member states highlighted investment opportunities in community space.

The participants in the 8th World Investment Forum highlighted the various reforms undertaken by the bodies of the Union to improve the macroeconomic environment, the realization of the Customs Union, and facilitate the free movement of people and goods , services and capital, as well as the right of establishment. Ousmane Koné, the Resident Representative of the Commission in Brussels, stressed the importance of harmonizing legislation in the legal, fiscal, financial, accounting and competition frameworks, as well as the coordination of sectoral policies

This edition ended with a strong call for public and private investors to play a central role in reshaping the global economy and to seize the new opportunities offered by the energy transition, the transformation of the agri-food and health sectors, and the evolution of sustainable development solutions.
