The Court of Justice of the West African Economic and Monetary Union has been organizing a seminar to raise awareness of Community law since November 21. The meetings that will end tomorrow, Friday, November 24, 2023 in Cotonou, will contribute to facilitating access to justice for all actors and respect for procedures

The main objective of the 5-day seminar is to enable lawyers, magistrates and other judicial actors to become more familiar with the Community law of the Economic and Monetary Union of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) and its implementation modalities. According to Jules Chabi Mouka, representing the President of the Court of UEMOA, such training was necessary, because “the appropriation of Community law by lawyers becomes preponderant if we know that the application of Community standards is very often required through the pleadings and conclusions of these court leaders who provide, in the context of each case, elements of a solution to the disposition of the judges.”
