A press release informs that an independent non-profit organization and the Initiative for the Transparency of Extractive Industries in the DRC (ITIE-RDC) have under their collaboration launched the project “Combating corruption” in the form of illegal payments in the artisanal cobalt mining sector.

The project Combating Corruption is destined, according to the press release, to make informal payments in the supply chain more visible and will help civil society monitor corruption more effectively in the artisanal cobalt mining sector. The launch of this project involved the participation of the technology company Minespider and the international non-profit organization Solidaridad. Stakeholders discussed how the project will build on ongoing efforts to support transparency and, ultimately, how it can contribute to creating an environment conducive to responsible sourcing of artisanal cobalt
