Benin has just complied with a legal provision in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) zone. At the end of last week, the deputies of the 9th legislature adopted the draft uniform law on the fight against money laundering, the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in the Union

The new law aims to further strengthen the community's legal arsenal in favor of defense, security and economic development in the subregion. This is the proposal for a uniform law relating to the fight against money laundering, the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in the UEMOA area. It was adopted on Friday, January 12, 2024 by the majority of deputies present and represented in the National Assembly. The new regulatory provision includes 207 articles divided into 06 titles. By adopting carefully, the Beninese legislator intends to further strengthen the Community legal arsenal in favour of defence, security and economic development in the subregion
