On Monday, January 22, 2024, a campaign was launched to sign the Charter for Sustainable Fisheries by the National Coalition for Sustainable Fisheries (CONAPED). This campaign is based on 13 commitments to promote sustainable maritime fishing.

L'objectif du lancement de la campagne de signature de la charte est selon les initiateurs to ensure that all candidates in the presidential election of February 2024 can sign this charter in order to facilitate the integration of these thirteen commitments into their programs, in order to promote sustainable fishing and preserve marine resources. Among other commitments, the charter includes: “to freeze the granting of any new industrial fishing license on fully exploited and overexploited stocks, to support the implementation of measures aimed at the restoration of degraded ecosystems and the reduction of marine pollution”. The National Coalition for Sustainable Fisheries (CONAPED) and all member professional organizations are also asking NGOs, structures and institutions that adhere to its vision to commit to the thirteen urgent measures for the sustainable revival of maritime fishing
