The opening of the workshop on money laundering risks related to non-financial affairs took place on Monday, February 26 in Luanda. On the occasion, the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) Rosário Bento Pais, said that Angola is one of the African countries that has made the most progress in the field of combating money laundering and in other

related areas.

Rosário Bento Pais reported that Angola and the EU have made strategic international political commitments in order to ensure the promotion of sustainable policies in the areas of anti-money laundering. According to the EU ambassador, countries around the world are currently increasingly feeling the need to strengthen their judicial systems with tools that allow them to prevent, combat and stop these structured chains of illegality. According to him, thanks to the persistent and convergent work of the Angolan authorities linked to justice and the EU, the programme implemented by UNODC was increasingly becoming an important instrument in support of the judicial system, placing Angola among the African countries that have made the most progress in the fight against money laundering in Africa
