During a plenary session held by the judges on Monday 11 March 2024, Judge Reine Alapini-Gansou was elected 2nd Vice President, following the election of the new officers of this jurisdiction.

Born on August 11, 1956 in Abidjan, Reine Alapini-Gansou is a Beninese judge at the International Criminal Court. She was elected a judge to the International Criminal Court on 5 December 2017 during the sixteenth session of the Assembly of States Parties at UN Headquarters. She took office on 11 March 2018, for a term of 9 years. She is the first Beninese woman elected to this office. As part of her duties as a judge at the ICC, she deals in particular with situations in Libya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Mali, or even Georgia. She graduated with a DEA in Law and politique Environment from the Universities of Lomé, Maastricht and Bhutan (1999) and also holds a master's degree in business law and careers judicial institutions from the National University of Benin, and degrees in the field of international law and human rights awarded between 1993 and 2002 by the African Institute of Human Rights in Banjul, the International Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg and the International Development Law Organization in Strasbourg and the International Development Law Organization

in Rome.

Judge Tomoko Akane was elected President of the Court and Judge Rosario Salvatore Aitala was elected First Vice President. These three judges were elected for a term of three years with immediate effect.
