During the launch of the load tests at the Société Cotonnière factory on the first of August (Socopa), on Tuesday, April 23 in Djougou, Shadiya Alimatou Assouman, Minister of Industry and Commerce, expressed her hope that this jewel would contribute to the development of the textile industry in Benin. She said she was satisfied to see a new cotton ginning factory set up in Donga Department

.

“The launch of the trials at the cotton gin factory of the Cotton Company on the first of August (Socopa) represents a crucial step, not only in the development of our textile industry and in the promotion of our national economy, but also in the socio-economic development of the municipality of Djougou, indeed the entire Donga department,” welcomes Shadiya Alimatou Assouman, Minister of Industry and Commerce. For the minister, the establishment of this factory, favoured by the Head of State, is a contribution to the development of the industrial sector

.

The launch of testing at the new factory is, according to him, of particular importance. This marks a significant advance in the country's strategy to enhance its natural resources and promote its agricultural sector, informs the minister. Cotton has long been, she adds, an essential component of Benin's economy and the factory is helping to optimize its processing and transformation into high-quality finished products. Better still, it will strengthen Benin's position on the international market by offering more competitive products that comply with international standards, according to Shadiya Alimatou

Assouman.

Designed based on modern technology that minimizes its impact on the environment, the Djougou ginning factory has an annual processing capacity of 30,000 tons of seed cotton and will employ permanent and seasonal workers. According to various testimonies, it will offer the opportunity to create several thousand direct jobs for the benefit of the Beninese population in general and the Donga department

in particular.
