The Congolese League Against Corruption (LICOCO) has denounced the embezzlement of an amount of 10 million US dollars allocated by PERENCO, a company that exploits oil in Muanda.

The embezzled sum was released in 2021 to finance development projects in Muanda, a city in Central Kongo-Central. LICOCO is exasperated to note that three years after these funds were made available, nothing concrete or tangible has been achieved on the ground. She thus accuses the commission created to manage these 10 million dollars of embezzlement. The president of the Congolese League for the Fight against Corruption, Ernest Mpararo, asks the Ministry of Hydrocarbons to explain how these funds are managed. He says that this endowment intended to provide electricity in the territory of Muanda has not yet produced any results since 2021

It should be noted that since the funds were made available three years ago, there has been no tender to select service providers, which reinforces the suspicion that LICOCO was being misused.
