The Appeals Chamber of the Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Information (CRIEF) delivered its verdict on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 in the case of Guinean State against Soriba Keita, former logistics manager at the Ministry of Health.

Soriba Keita is being tried before the CRIEF Appeals Chamber for alleged embezzlement of public funds relating to health equipment that was intended for a Belgian NGO based in Lola. Through the decision rendered by the trial chamber, the Court sentenced Soriba Keita to 2 years in prison with a suspended sentence, to the payment of a fine of 25 million Guinean francs, and to 25 million Guinean francs in damages in favor of the Guinean State. This decision was considered to be not well reasoned.
