For acts of embezzlement of public funds,, a former Franco-Gabonese cabinet director of the former President of Gabon Ali Bongo was sentenced on Saturday in Libreville to twelve years in prison, including nearly four years in prison.

Bongo's former chief of staff was sentenced to twelve years in prison including 3 years, 10 months and 16 days in prison, a fine of 100 million FCFA (152,430 euros), and a fine of 100 million FCFA (152,430 euros) and 5 billion FCFA (7.6 million euros) in damages. According to his lawyer, Anges Kévin Nzigou, “it is an injustice”. He reiterates that the funds received for which his client was convicted were “not from public funds, but from a purely private account belonging to former President Ali Bongo”.
