In its Monthly Bulletin of Statistics, the BCEAO mentioned that the UEMOA interbank market recorded a drop in trade volume during the month of April 2024.

The Bceao indicated in its Bulletin that “all maturities combined, the average weekly volume of transactions increased from 732.8 billion in March 2024 to 681.3 billion in March 2024 to 681.3 billion in April 2024, a decrease of 7.0%. The average reference interest rate, calculated on the one-week sub-fund, was 6.05% in April 2024, compared to 5.91% the previous month, an increase of 14 basis points.” During the period under review, the business climate indicator remained above its long-term trend, standing at 101.4, which reflects the continued confidence of business leaders in the favourable direction of activities.
